History
New Zealand icon brand Mainland was established in Dunedin in 1955 -- its first product a 10 pound can of natural cheese. Today Mainland is produced in New Zealand and Australia.
The variety of cheeses available under the Mainland brand has grown over the decades and cheeses bearing its name are now available throughout Australia and Asia as well as in New Zealand.
Still recognised as the top-selling cheese brand in the NZ retail market, Mainland celebrated its 50th birthday in 2005.
